Liposuction

Transform Your Body with Liposuction: The Ultimate Contouring Solution

Are you struggling with stubborn fat that just won’t budge, no matter how much you diet or exercise? Liposuction might be the answer you’ve been looking for! This procedure uses suction to remove fat from specific areas of your body, such as the stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms, or neck, giving you a beautifully contoured silhouette. Also known as lipoplasty or body contouring, liposuction is your ticket to a more sculpted you.

Why Choose Liposuction?

Liposuction is not a weight-loss method but a body contouring solution for those who have a stable body weight but struggle with localized fat deposits. It’s perfect for targeting areas that are resistant to diet and exercise, including:

  • Abdomen.
  • Upper arms.
  • Buttocks.
  • Calves and ankles.
  • Chest and back.
  • Hips and thighs.
  • Chin and neck.

For men, liposuction can also help reduce extra breast tissue, a condition known as gynecomastia.

How Does It Work?

When you gain weight, your fat cells expand. Liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in specific areas, leading to permanent shape changes as long as your weight remains stable. After the procedure, your skin will mold itself to the new contours of your body. If you have good skin tone and elasticity, the results will be smooth and natural-looking.

What Liposuction Can’t Do?

It’s important to note that liposuction won’t help with cellulite or stretch marks. It’s also not suitable for those with certain health conditions, such as blood flow problems, coronary artery disease, diabetes, or a weak immune system.

Pre-Surgery Preparation

  • You'll receive instructions about medications to stop taking before surgery and when to stop them.
  • Taking medications or supplements that thin the blood can affect the blood's ability to clot. They can increase the risk of hematomas after surgery. These medications include blood thinners, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), ginseng, Ginkgo biloba, fish oil and others.
  • You'll be asked to avoid eating anything after midnight the night before your surgery.
  • The plastic surgeons office will provide you very detailed instructions prior to arrival in Colombia and before your procedure date.

Understanding the Risks

As with any surgery, liposuction comes with risks, including:

  • Contour irregularities: Uneven fat removal can lead to bumpy or wavy skin.
  • Fluid buildup: Temporary pockets of fluid (seromas) may form and need to be drained.
  • Numbness: Temporary or permanent numbness in treated areas.
  • Infection: Rare but possible, and can be severe.
  • Internal puncture: Rare but serious, requiring emergency surgery.
  • Fat embolism: Fat pieces can travel to the lungs or brain, causing a medical emergency.
  • Kidney and heart problems: Fluid shifts during large-volume liposuction can be life-threatening.
  • Lidocaine toxicity: Although rare, it can cause serious heart and central nervous system issues.
